Award Winning Cheese
Cheese competition judges typically evaluate contest cheese for both technical and aesthetic quality. The written judge's comments from contests and competitions provide a Cheesemaker with good technical feedback to use in continually improving their craft. At Faribault Dairy we occasionally enter cheese contests for that purpose.
The four contests we prefer to enter are the Wisconsin Cheese Makers (WCMA) sponsored World Championship Cheese Contest and U.S. Championship Cheese Contest, the annual American Cheese Society (ACS) contest, the Upper Midwest Dairy Industry Association (UMDIA) quarterly contests and the World Cheese Awards of London, England.
At Faribault Dairy we are humbly grateful for the awards our handmade cave aged cheese has earned to date.

The Minnesota State Fair


The US Cheese Championship
The US Cheese Championship, a biennial event, is one of the largest national contests open to all United States cheesemakers. The contest and expo offers cheese enthusiasts and professional chefs the chance to learn more about cheese evaluation. Hosted by Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association every two years.


World Championship Cheese Contest
Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association hosts this contest every other year - Amablu Gorgonzola

Upper Midwest Dairy Industry Association
Upper Midwest Dairy Industry Association – The UMDIA sponsors four contests each year, the final contest being held at the Minnesota State Fair. Cheesemakers from across the Midwest are invited to enter their cheese.





American Culinary Federation
The American Cheese Society
The American Cheese Society hosts a national gathering of their members each year. All members are welcome to enter their artisinal cheeses into the annual competition. When the competition is complete, a Festival of Cheese is held for members to sample the entries.
